2-Year Olds
At two years old children are very inquisitive and love to explore. Weather permitting we love to be out and about encouraging the children into new situations , we have lots of local places and facilities we take the children to.Following the guidlines of the EYFS we allow the children to explore their surroundings , it could be at a local soft play centre or at nearby by parks and attractions .In these situations we can encourage their vocabulary by explaining new words,numbers and colours , We also encourage the children to be as independant as possible (age appropriate) . We come across lots of local wildlife whilst out and about and we find the children thoroughly enjoy these encounters from insects to farm animals.
3-Year Olds
At three years old children are preparing for the transition to a nursery setting most likely to be within a school setting.Our setting tries our very best to prepare each child for this next step.We encourage all children to be toilet trained and independant in using the toilet.We undertake alot of craft work which will include using pencils and stencils to help define their fine motor skills.Along with our two year olds the three year olds are included in the above activities to help introuduce them to change in their daily routine as this can sometimes be overwhelming.
